You're not alone

Choose whatever helps right now.

If a life is in danger

Call the local emergency number, or ask someone nearby to call. If you have already hurt yourself or taken something dangerous, call now, even if you feel all right.

Where are you right now?

Help numbers depend on the country you're in, not on the site's language. We never ask for access to your location.

What you can do right now

  • If anything nearby could be used to hurt yourself, put it out of reach or ask someone to stay with you.
  • Message someone you trust: “I’m having a hard time. Can you be with me?”
  • You don't have to solve everything now. Getting through the next few minutes is enough.

Talk to a person

If you're having thoughts of hurting yourself or of not wanting to live, call a support line. They will listen without judgment. You can also call when things simply feel too heavy.

Choose your country above to see its support lines. Lines in many countries are also listed in the Find A Helpline directory.

Major Arcana · VI

The Lovers

Two people stand open-handed beneath one sun: closeness, and a choice that comes from what matters to you.

By Tarot tradition: a mirror, not a verdict

The card The Lovers, arcanum VI: a drawing from the 1909 deck in a velvet frame
The 1909 deck after drawings by Pamela Colman Smith (public domain).

Image and meaning

A great sun fills the sky, and below it a winged figure spreads its hands over two people who stand apart, palms open. They are unguarded, and nothing pushes them together. The theme is connection, and the quiet ease that comes when what you feel, what you value and what you do all point the same way. That can be true with a partner or a friend, in the path you choose, or within yourself.

Keywords

  • connection
  • being seen
  • heartfelt choice
  • inner agreement

Light and shadow

Support. Being seen as you are, and choosing from the heart with your eyes open.

Worth noticing. Whether your choices follow what you value, or what you think others expect of you.

A gentle step

Name, in one or two fitting words, what you feel toward the person or the choice you are thinking about.

Gently. Strong feelings deserve attention, and a choice that feels urgent at their peak can still wait a day.

Across areas of life

Relationships
Closeness in which both people can stay open, and the qualities you value most in a bond.
Work
A path or project that fits your values, or a partnership where each side says plainly what it needs.
Resources
Relationships that steady you, and the warmth of choosing and being chosen.
About you
Agreement between what you feel and what you do, so less effort goes into inner argument.

Questions for yourself

Where do your feelings, values and actions already agree with one another?

What helps you stay open with someone while still feeling safe?
