You're not alone

Choose whatever helps right now.

If a life is in danger

Call the local emergency number, or ask someone nearby to call. If you have already hurt yourself or taken something dangerous, call now, even if you feel all right.

Where are you right now?

Help numbers depend on the country you're in, not on the site's language. We never ask for access to your location.

What you can do right now

  • If anything nearby could be used to hurt yourself, put it out of reach or ask someone to stay with you.
  • Message someone you trust: “I’m having a hard time. Can you be with me?”
  • You don't have to solve everything now. Getting through the next few minutes is enough.

Talk to a person

If you're having thoughts of hurting yourself or of not wanting to live, call a support line. They will listen without judgment. You can also call when things simply feel too heavy.

Choose your country above to see its support lines. Lines in many countries are also listed in the Find A Helpline directory.

Major Arcana · X

Wheel of Fortune

A great wheel floats among the clouds, and on top of it a sphinx sits still: movement all around, and one calm point.

By Tarot tradition: a mirror, not a verdict

The card Wheel of Fortune, arcanum X: a drawing from the 1909 deck in a velvet frame
The 1909 deck after drawings by Pamela Colman Smith (public domain).

Image and meaning

On one side of the wheel a snake slides down; on the other a figure with a jackal's head is carried up. Rising and falling are drawn as parts of one circle, not as reward and punishment. In life, too, much of what turns is outside your control, and that can be unsettling. The sphinx on top suggests another question: where is your own still point while things turn?

Light and shadow

Support. Calm at the center, even while everything around you moves.

Worth noticing. How tightly you hold on to the good stretches, and how hard you push against the low ones.

A gentle step

Make two lists: what is changing around you, and what you can still influence. Then spend a minute with the second one.

Gently. A rising phase is worth enjoying for what it is, without reading it as a sign of what comes next.

Across areas of life

Relationships
Closeness and distance come and go in any relationship; you can notice which phase you are in without alarm.
Work
A new stage in a project, and room to adapt to decisions that were not yours.
Resources
Whatever keeps you steady when circumstances shift: a routine, a person, a familiar walk.
About you
Your still point: the habits and values that stay with you through every turn.

Questions for yourself

What in your life stays steady while other things keep changing?

Which part of what is turning now is actually yours to shape?

If you'd like some supportWindow of tolerance

The cards are a prompt to pause and listen to yourself. In the tarot tradition, for reflection: the cards do not know the future and decide nothing for you. The texts are for reflection and entertainment and are no substitute for advice from a doctor, psychologist, lawyer or financial professional.
