Major Arcana · IX
The Hermit
A lantern lifted on a snowy summit, a star shining inside: time apart, and light for the next step.
By Tarot tradition: a mirror, not a verdict

Image and meaning
Alone on the summit, the hooded figure bows his head and holds his lantern up. Its light reaches only a short way, and that is enough: no one has to see everything ahead to take one step. Solitude here is chosen, a break from the noise so that your own judgment can be heard. Time apart like this is nourishing, and it can sit comfortably beside closeness with others.

Light and shadow
Support. Time alone that restores you, and light for the step in front of you.
Worth noticing. How often you wait until you are worn out before allowing yourself a pause.
A gentle step
Think of something that worries you and write down only the next step; leave the rest unlit for now.
Gently. Quiet that restores and quiet that isolates can look alike; how you feel afterward tells them apart.
