Major Arcana · III
The Empress
A woman at ease on soft cushions, wheat ripening before her: growth that keeps its own pace.
By Tarot tradition: a mirror, not a verdict

Image and meaning
She rests on red cushions in the open air, with tall trees behind her and a small waterfall to one side. Nothing here is hurried. A project, your strength, the way you treat yourself: growth in any of these takes the time it takes, and rest and pleasure are part of it. If you are used to earning every pause, that can be hard to allow. Wheat does not ripen any faster for being tugged at.

Light and shadow
Support. The body's comfort counts: warmth, food, rest and the pleasure of simple things.
Worth noticing. How quickly rest gets pushed aside the moment there is something left to do.
A gentle step
Tense your shoulders for a few seconds, then let them drop, and notice the difference.
Gently. If rest brings guilt, notice the guilt too, without letting it decide how much rest you get.
