You're not alone

Choose whatever helps right now.

If a life is in danger

Call the local emergency number, or ask someone nearby to call. If you have already hurt yourself or taken something dangerous, call now, even if you feel all right.

Where are you right now?

Help numbers depend on the country you're in, not on the site's language. We never ask for access to your location.

What you can do right now

  • If anything nearby could be used to hurt yourself, put it out of reach or ask someone to stay with you.
  • Message someone you trust: “I’m having a hard time. Can you be with me?”
  • You don't have to solve everything now. Getting through the next few minutes is enough.

Talk to a person

If you're having thoughts of hurting yourself or of not wanting to live, call a support line. They will listen without judgment. You can also call when things simply feel too heavy.

Choose your country above to see its support lines. Lines in many countries are also listed in the Find A Helpline directory.

Ace of Cups

A golden cup rests on an open palm, its water spilling over the rim: feeling that is free to flow.

By Tarot tradition: a mirror, not a verdict

The card Ace of Cups: a drawing from the 1909 deck in a velvet frame
The 1909 deck after drawings by Pamela Colman Smith (public domain).

Image and meaning

Out of a gray cloud comes a hand, holding a golden cup on its open palm. Five thin streams arch over the rim and fall into a pond dotted with lily pads. Warmth, tenderness or simple gladness may be starting to stir, toward someone else or toward yourself. Receiving care counts as much as giving it, and a good feeling is allowed to linger without first passing a safety check.

Keywords

  • open heart
  • receptivity
  • tenderness
  • feeling that flows

The suit of Cups: feelings and bonds.

Light and shadow

Support. Feeling that moves freely, and the ability to receive warmth as well as give it.

Worth noticing. The habit of checking a good feeling for hidden risks before letting it land.

A gentle step

Recall one warm moment from today, however small, and stay with it for three slow breaths.

Gently. Openness does not have to be all or nothing: you decide how much to share, with whom, and how quickly.

Across areas of life

Relationships
Warmth you can show and also accept, without turning either one into a test.
Work
Work that has feeling in it: caring for people, or an idea you are glad to give time to.
Resources
Whatever refills you emotionally: people who listen, rest, music, beauty you notice along the way.
About you
Letting a good feeling stay a little longer, and treating yourself as someone worth caring for.

Questions for yourself

What has warmed you lately, even briefly, and did you let it in?

Where in your life could you receive a little more than you give?

If you'd like some supportEmotion wheel

The cards are a prompt to pause and listen to yourself. In the tarot tradition, for reflection: the cards do not know the future and decide nothing for you.
