You're not alone

Choose whatever helps right now.

If a life is in danger

Call the local emergency number, or ask someone nearby to call. If you have already hurt yourself or taken something dangerous, call now, even if you feel all right.

Where are you right now?

Help numbers depend on the country you're in, not on the site's language. We never ask for access to your location.

What you can do right now

  • If anything nearby could be used to hurt yourself, put it out of reach or ask someone to stay with you.
  • Message someone you trust: “I’m having a hard time. Can you be with me?”
  • You don't have to solve everything now. Getting through the next few minutes is enough.

Talk to a person

If you're having thoughts of hurting yourself or of not wanting to live, call a support line. They will listen without judgment. You can also call when things simply feel too heavy.

Choose your country above to see its support lines. Lines in many countries are also listed in the Find A Helpline directory.

Minor Arcana · Swords

Page of Swords

On a windy rise, the Page grips a raised sword and looks back over one shoulder: a quick, curious mind on the lookout.

By Tarot tradition: a mirror, not a verdict

The card Page of Swords: a drawing from the 1909 deck in a velvet frame
The 1909 deck after drawings by Pamela Colman Smith (public domain).

Court card

It can be read as a role or a side of you. The Page is the learner, curious to try things and free not to know everything yet.

Image and meaning

Wind bends the trees and tugs at the Page's hair, birds fly high overhead, and the head turns to look back. The Page can stand for the part of you, at any age, that asks, checks and tests ideas for itself. That alertness is a gift. It has a cost too, when scanning never stops and curiosity slides into bracing for trouble. Notice which of the two is at work today.

Keywords

  • alert curiosity
  • learning
  • watchfulness
  • quick thinking

The suit of Swords: thoughts and words.

Light and shadow

Support. A fresh, sharp curiosity that enjoys questions and is happy to keep learning.

Worth noticing. Keeping watch so constantly that the eyes never get a moment's rest.

A gentle step

Choose one question that interests you and spend ten minutes finding out more, purely for the pleasure of it.

Gently. A quick idea about what someone else means is worth a second look before it hardens into a conclusion.

Across areas of life

Relationships
Asking a curious question instead of guessing what the other person meant.
Work
Learning a new skill, or bringing fresh, pointed questions to a familiar task.
Resources
Mental energy that thrives on a challenge, and the rest it needs afterward.
About you
The student in you, whatever your age, who still likes to find things out.

Questions for yourself

What are you curious about right now, with worry set aside?

When does your watchfulness help you, and when does it keep you on edge?

How to read this card

The card does not tell you what is coming and does not judge you. Notice what in the image resonates and what does not: both say something about you, your feelings and your needs.

In the tarot tradition, for reflection. The card does not know the future and is no substitute for professional advice.

Card of the day

Every day one card is shared by everyone. Open it and see what this image highlights in you.

If you'd like some supportThinking traps

The cards are a prompt to pause and listen to yourself. In the tarot tradition, for reflection: the cards do not know the future and decide nothing for you. The texts are for reflection and entertainment and are no substitute for advice from a doctor, psychologist, lawyer or financial professional.
