Minor Arcana · Pentacles
Four of Pentacles
A crowned figure clasps a pentacle to the chest, one more on the crown and two under the feet: holding on to feel safe.
By Tarot tradition: a mirror, not a verdict

Image and meaning
The figure sits on a gray stone seat, arms wrapped around one disc, another balanced on the crown, two pinned under the feet. Behind, in the distance, stands a town. Holding on to what feels safe, whether time, routines, plans or feelings, meets a real need, and boundaries can be healthy. The picture also shows the cost: with every limb busy guarding, nothing new can be picked up. The question is where protection has turned into tension.

The suit of Pentacles: body, work and resources.
Light and shadow
Support. Real security: knowing what is yours to protect and keeping it safe.
Worth noticing. A grip so constant that your shoulders forget how to let go.
A gentle step
Look at one thing you guard closely, a plan, a habit or a feeling, and ask whether it still needs this much holding.
Gently. Wanting to feel safe is a reasonable need; the point is to notice what the constant holding costs you.
Across areas of life
- Relationships
- Guarding the heart, and offering closeness carefully, sometimes more carefully than the bond needs.
- Work
- Protecting what has been built, and caution about taking on anything new.
- Resources
- Conserving time and strength, and noticing when caution turns into a constant sense of scarcity.
- About you
- Control as comfort, and a body that holds tension in order to feel safe.
